NMEA 0183 and NMEA 2000 Data Servers
The YDEN-02N provides three configurable network data servers. Each server can use TCP or UDP and can be configured for NMEA 0183 or NMEA 2000 RAW data depending on the required application.
- Up to 3 configurable data servers
- Up to 3 TCP connections per server
- Up to 9 TCP connections across all servers
- Unlimited UDP clients
- Bidirectional, read-only or write-only server operation
- NMEA 0183 protocol support
- NMEA 2000 RAW protocol support
NMEA 0183 / NMEA 2000 Conversion
The gateway includes a bidirectional converter between NMEA 0183 and NMEA 2000. This allows compatible software using NMEA 0183 to exchange supported navigation data with devices operating on the NMEA 2000 network.
The NMEA 2000 RAW protocol is also available for compatible applications such as Expedition 10 and CAN Log Viewer.
Web Interface and Web Gauges
The YDEN-02N includes an internal web server for configuration, firmware updates, diagnostics and vessel data display. The Web Gauges interface can be opened from a standard web browser on a PC, laptop, tablet or smartphone without installing a dedicated application.
- Real-time vessel data display
- Four customizable Web Gauges pages
- Supports engine data display
- Supports navigation and environmental data display
- Supports digital switching control
- No internet connection required for local access
- No dedicated application installation required
Ethernet Configuration
The gateway supports several IP configuration modes for different onboard network installations.
- DHCP Client
- DHCP Server
- Static IP Address
- DHCP Magic automatic mode
- mDNS and Bonjour network discovery
Direct PC and Vessel Network Connection
The YDEN-02N can be connected directly to a PC using a standard RJ45 Male-to-Male Cat 5e or Cat 6 Ethernet cable. The Ethernet cable can be up to 100 meters long.
The same type of cable can be used with a standard Ethernet hub, router or Garmin Marine Network. Proprietary adaptor cables may be required when connecting to vessel networks that use manufacturer-specific connectors.
Autopilot Integration
The gateway can be used with compatible marine applications to exchange navigation information with NMEA 2000 autopilots. A server port must be configured for bidirectional operation when control data is sent from software to the NMEA 2000 network.
Depending on the autopilot system and software, supported functions can include waypoint and track navigation using compatible NMEA 0183 data converted by the gateway.
NMEA Message Filtering
The device provides configurable message filters for controlling which NMEA 0183 and NMEA 2000 messages are passed between the vessel network and connected applications.
- Transmit and receive filters
- NMEA 0183 sentence filtering
- NMEA 2000 PGN filtering
- Global NMEA 2000 filters
- Per-server filtering
Internal Data Logging
The YDEN-02N can automatically record vessel data in internal memory. Recorded information can be downloaded through the internal web interface without an internet connection.
Export Format Application GPX GPS tracks CSV Spreadsheet data XML Structured vessel data
The logging interval can be configured from 15 seconds to 1 hour. With factory settings, logging is enabled with a 5-minute interval.
Cloud Services
When the connected Ethernet network has internet access, recorded data can be uploaded to Yacht Devices Cloud Services. This can be used for access to vessel tracks, sharing vessel position and remote monitoring.
Diagnostics
The gateway supports real-time diagnostic data through a web browser and NMEA 2000 diagnostics through Yacht Devices CAN Log Viewer.
- NMEA 0183 diagnostics
- NMEA 2000 diagnostics
- Real-time browser-based logs
- CAN Log Viewer compatibility
- NMEA 2000 device listing and configuration through compatible software
Installation Notes
- Connects directly to the NMEA 2000 backbone without a drop cable
- Powered from the NMEA 2000 interface
- Requires a dry mounting location
- Ethernet cables can be hot-plugged while the device is powered
- NMEA 2000 drop cable is not supplied
- Ethernet cable is not supplied
