The Vetus ZWB40A Flexible Inner Bearing is designed to deliver superior sealing performance, reliability, and long service life for marine propulsion systems. Suitable for 40 mm propeller shafts and 61 mm stern tubes, this self-aligning bronze shaft seal offers enhanced protection against water ingress through its dual vulcanized sealing lips and continuous lubrication design.

The robust bronze housing consists of two precision-engineered components, one of which includes a Ø10 mm hose barb for continuous water supply to lubricate and cool the bearing. The second housing section incorporates the dual sealing lips to provide double security against leaks. A grease nipple located at the top allows the sealing lips to be lubricated with silicone grease for maximum sealing efficiency and longevity.

To maintain proper lubrication and cooling, a minimum of 20 liters of water per hour is required. This water can be supplied from the engine’s cooling system or a dedicated hull inlet. For vessels traveling faster than 12 knots, an external water feed is highly recommended. In slower vessels, the hose can be routed above the waterline to act as a vent.
