The Vetus ZWB30I Flexible Inner Bearing is a precision-engineered bronze sealing system developed for 30 mm propeller shafts and 49.5 mm stern tubes. Designed to provide double sealing protection and self-alignment, it ensures reliable shaft operation and long-lasting resistance to water ingress under all marine conditions.

This unit features dual vulcanized sealing lips for double security against leaks. The housing consists of two robust bronze components, one incorporating a Ø10 mm hose barb for water supply. This connection provides continuous lubrication and cooling for the water-lubricated bearing, guaranteeing smooth, efficient performance and extended service life.

To maintain proper lubrication, a minimum of 20 liters of water per hour must be supplied—ideally from the engine’s cooling system or a dedicated hull inlet. For vessels exceeding 12 knots, an external water feed is strongly recommended. For slower vessels, the hose may be routed above the waterline to serve as a vent for the seal. The top of the unit includes a grease nipple for applying silicone grease to the sealing lips, ensuring flexible, durable sealing over time.

The ZWB30I is fully compatible with Vetus bronze, GRP, and steel stern tubes, offering an environmentally friendly and virtually maintenance-free shaft sealing solution. It provides a stable, self-aligning interface between the shaft and the stern tube, preventing vibration and ensuring quiet, smooth operation.
