The Yacht Devices YDNG-03N is a bidirectional marine data gateway designed to connect NMEA 0183 equipment with an NMEA 2000 network. It converts supported messages in both directions and provides compatibility with a wide range of marine navigation, AIS and autopilot equipment.
The YDNG-03N version is equipped with an NMEA 2000 Micro Male connector. It has one NMEA 2000 connection and one NMEA 0183 port with separate transmit and receive lines, allowing data exchange between legacy NMEA 0183 devices and modern NMEA 2000 electronics.

NMEA 0183 Port
The NMEA 0183 port can be configured for speeds from 300 to 115200 baud in 300-baud increments. Factory configuration is 4800 baud.

NMEA 0183 Electrical Compatibility
The gateway supports both older single-ended NMEA 0183 connections based on RS-232 and modern differential NMEA 0183 connections based on RS-422.

Bidirectional Data Conversion
The YDNG-03N converts supported NMEA 0183 sentences into corresponding NMEA 2000 messages and can also convert supported NMEA 2000 data into NMEA 0183 sentences.
NMEA 0183 applications can also use $PCDIN and $MXPGN sentences to transmit raw NMEA 2000 messages. This provides access to additional data such as engine information, tank levels, battery data and compatible digital switching functions.
AIS Support
The gateway supports AIS message conversion and can be configured to operate at the 38400 baud speed commonly used by AIS equipment.
Because AIS can generate a high volume of data, the manufacturer recommends using an appropriate NMEA 0183 port speed and filtering unnecessary messages if output queue overflow occurs.
NMEA 0183 and NMEA 2000 Filtering
The gateway provides configurable filtering in both directions between the NMEA 0183 and NMEA 2000 interfaces.

- Multiplexer mode can combine received NMEA 0183 sentences with data converted from NMEA 2000
- Multiple listeners can be connected to the NMEA 0183 TX output
Fast Heading Function
The FAST_HEADING option allows the gateway to transmit HDG heading sentences at 12 Hz, with approximately 80 milliseconds between messages. This function is intended for applications such as radar heading input.
At 4800 baud, fast heading can consume approximately 60% of the available NMEA 0183 channel capacity, so other sentences may need to be filtered when this option is enabled.
Raymarine Autopilot Support
The gateway includes dedicated support for controlling compatible Raymarine SeaTalk NG autopilots from NMEA 0183 navigation applications. This functionality is disabled by default and must be enabled in the device configuration.
For autopilot operation, the gateway can process navigation information including destination waypoint, bearing and cross-track error from supported NMEA 0183 sentences such as RMB, APB and XTE.
MicroSD Configuration
The YDNG-03N includes a MicroSD card slot for device configuration, firmware updates and diagnostic recording. No dedicated configuration software is required.
