The Yacht Devices YDNG-03R is a bidirectional NMEA 0183-to-NMEA 2000 gateway with a Raymarine SeaTalk NG-compatible connector, designed to integrate NMEA 0183 equipment with modern marine networks. Yacht Devices YDNG-03R NMEA 0183 Gateway with SeaTalk NG Connector, Bidirectional Converter and AIS Support
The Yacht Devices YDNG-03R is a bidirectional marine data gateway designed to connect NMEA 0183 equipment with NMEA 2000 networks through a Raymarine SeaTalk NG-compatible connector. It converts supported data in both directions and provides integration for navigation, AIS, autopilot and other marine electronics.
The gateway has one NMEA 2000 connection and one NMEA 0183 port with separate transmit and receive data lines. Its configurable NMEA 0183 baud rate allows connection to standard instruments, AIS transceivers, high-speed multiplexers, PC adaptors and other compatible equipment.

NMEA 0183 Port
The NMEA 0183 port can be configured from 300 to 115200 baud in 300-baud increments. The factory setting is 4800 baud.

NMEA 0183 Electrical Compatibility
The YDNG-03R supports both older single-ended NMEA 0183 connections and modern differential connections.

Bidirectional Data Conversion
The gateway converts supported NMEA 0183 sentences into corresponding NMEA 2000 messages and converts supported NMEA 2000 data back into NMEA 0183 sentences.
NMEA 0183 applications can also use $PCDIN and $MXPGN sentences to transmit raw NMEA 2000 messages. This allows access to additional information including engine data, tank data, battery information and compatible digital switching functions.
AIS Support
The YDNG-03R supports AIS message conversion and can operate at 38400 baud, the standard high-speed NMEA 0183 rate commonly used for AIS equipment.
When the volume of AIS traffic is high, the NMEA 0183 port speed and filters should be configured appropriately to reduce the risk of output queue overflow.
Message Filtering
The gateway provides configurable filtering for both NMEA 0183 and NMEA 2000 data.

NMEA 0183 Repeater and Multiplexer
A dedicated routing filter can forward selected NMEA 0183 sentences from the input directly to the output.
- Repeater mode can forward all received NMEA 0183 sentences
- Multiplexer mode can combine received NMEA 0183 data with data converted from NMEA 2000
- Multiple listeners can be connected to the NMEA 0183 TX output
Fast Heading Function
The FAST_HEADING option allows HDG heading sentences to be transmitted at 12 Hz, with approximately 80 milliseconds between messages. This function is intended for applications such as radar heading input.
At 4800 baud, fast heading consumes approximately 60% of the available NMEA 0183 channel capacity, so other messages may need to be filtered when this function is enabled.
Raymarine Autopilot Support
The YDNG-03R includes special support for controlling compatible Raymarine SeaTalk NG autopilots from an NMEA 0183 navigation application. This function is disabled by default and must be enabled in the gateway settings.
Autopilot integration can use navigation information including waypoint position, bearing and cross-track error from NMEA 0183 sentences such as RMB, APB and XTE.
MicroSD Configuration
The gateway includes a MicroSD card slot for configuration, diagnostics and firmware updates. No dedicated configuration software is required.
