The Maxwell RC12-11 is a stainless steel vertical automatic rope/chain windlass from the Maxwell RC12 Series, supplied under article number Vetus P104907. This model is powered by a 24 V DC motor with an output of 1200 W and features clockwise (CW) rotation with a 90 TDC chainwheel. It is designed for combined rope and chain anchoring operations on marine vessels.
The windlass incorporates an automatic rope/chain handling system suitable for controlled anchor deployment and retrieval. A ratcheted mechanism lever ensures that the windlass cannot backwind during emergency manual recovery of the anchor rode, providing additional operational safety.
For correct and safe use, the windlass must be operated in conjunction with a chain stopper and/or an alternative snubbing device to remove load from the windlass while the vessel is lying at anchor. These devices must also be used to secure the anchor in the fully raised position when the vessel is underway. The RC12-11 is supplied as part of a complete package for fully automatic dual-direction control.
