The Maxwell RC12-11 is a stainless steel vertical automatic rope/chain windlass from the Maxwell RC12 Series, supplied under article number Vetus P104956. This model is powered by a 12 V DC electric motor rated at 1200 W and features clockwise (CW) rotation with a 190 TDC chainwheel configuration. It is designed for controlled anchoring operations using a combination of rope and chain.
The windlass incorporates an automatic rope/chain handling system suitable for smooth anchor deployment and retrieval. A ratcheted mechanism lever prevents backwinding during emergency manual recovery of the anchor rode, providing additional operational safety.
For safe and correct operation, this windlass must be used in conjunction with a chain stopper and/or an alternative snubbing device to remove load from the windlass while the vessel is lying at anchor. These systems should also be used to secure the anchor in the fully raised position when the vessel is underway.
