The Maxwell RC12-11 is a stainless steel vertical automatic rope/chain hydraulic windlass from the Maxwell RC12 Series, supplied under article number Vetus P104958. This model is equipped with a 190 TDC chainwheel and clockwise (CW) rotation, engineered for demanding anchoring applications requiring high chain load capacity and reliable hydraulic performance.
The windlass incorporates an automatic rope/chain handling system to ensure controlled anchor deployment and retrieval. A ratcheted mechanism lever prevents backwinding during emergency manual recovery of the anchor rode, enhancing operational safety under load.
For safe and correct operation, the windlass must be used in conjunction with a chain stopper and/or an alternative snubbing device to remove load from the windlass while the vessel is lying at anchor. These securing systems must also be used to lock the anchor in the fully raised position when the vessel is underway. The RC12-11 hydraulic windlass is supplied as part of a complete automatic dual-direction control system.
