The Yacht Devices YDWG-02N is a wireless gateway designed to transfer data between an NMEA 2000 marine network and compatible PCs, laptops, tablets and smartphones. It provides access to navigation and vessel information through Wi-Fi, allowing compatible software or the built-in Web Gauges interface to display data without a direct wired computer connection.
The YDWG-02N version is equipped with an NMEA 2000 Micro Male connector. The gateway can create its own Wi-Fi network or connect to an existing onboard wireless network, providing flexible integration with marine applications and navigation systems.

Wi-Fi Operating Modes

In Access Point mode, the gateway can support up to three Wi-Fi connections. In Client mode, coverage depends on the range and configuration of the existing onboard Wi-Fi network.
TCP and UDP Data Servers
The YDWG-02N supports both TCP and UDP network protocols. Up to three internal data servers can be configured, and each server can be assigned a protocol, data format and communication direction.

NMEA 0183 Conversion
The gateway contains a bidirectional converter between NMEA 2000 and NMEA 0183. This allows compatible NMEA 0183 software to receive data from an NMEA 2000 network and, when configured for bidirectional communication, send supported data back to NMEA 2000.
NMEA 0183 applications can also use $PCDIN and $MXPGN sentences to exchange raw NMEA 2000 messages, providing access to extended engine, tank, battery and digital switching data.
RAW Protocol
RAW protocol provides direct transfer of NMEA 2000 messages, including proprietary messages, between the marine network and compatible applications.

NMEA Message Filtering

Autopilot Support
The gateway can be configured to control compatible NMEA 2000 and Raymarine SeaTalk NG autopilots from NMEA 0183 navigation software.
For autopilot control, the gateway can use navigation information including waypoint position, bearing and cross-track error received from supported NMEA 0183 sentences.
Wireless NMEA 2000 Extender
Two compatible Wi-Fi Gateways can be configured to join separate physical NMEA 2000 networks wirelessly. For this configuration, both gateways use UDP communication with the same port number.
Diagnostics
The gateway can output diagnostic information containing NMEA 2000 traffic and data exchanged with an application. Diagnostic data can be viewed through a web browser or compatible terminal software.

Firmware Updates

Installation
The YDWG-02N connects directly to the NMEA 2000 backbone without a drop cable. The gateway should be installed in a dry location and positioned away from metal bulkheads or other conductive materials that can weaken the Wi-Fi signal.
