The Tecnoseal 00480, 00481 and 00482 are zinc sacrificial propeller anodes designed for compatible Max Prop feathering propeller assemblies. Available for propeller hub diameters of 63 mm, 70 mm and 83 mm, these anodes provide replaceable galvanic corrosion protection for electrically connected underwater metallic components of the propeller system.

Each anode features a rounded, tapered body with three fastening holes arranged around a central opening. This three-hole mounting configuration is intended for attachment to the corresponding Max Prop propeller hub. The different variants have specific external dimensions, mounting measurements and weights to accommodate their respective hub sizes.

The Tecnoseal 00480 fits a 63 mm propeller hub and measures 65 mm in outside diameter and 42 mm in height. The 00481 fits a 70 mm hub and measures 72 mm in diameter and 44 mm in height. The largest version, 00482, is specified for an 83 mm hub and measures 83 mm in outside diameter and 61 mm in height.

Max Prop Compatibility

These Tecnoseal anodes are designed for compatible Max Prop feathering propellers with the following hub diameters:

• 83 mm propeller hub – Tecnoseal 00482

The specified hub dimensions refer to the propeller hub size, not the propeller blade diameter or shaft diameter. Before ordering, verify the existing anode dimensions, hub size and three-hole fastening arrangement.

Design and Mounting Configuration

The anodes feature a tapered body with a rounded outer profile and a circular mounting base. Three mounting holes are positioned around the central opening, allowing the anode to be attached to the corresponding propeller hub.

The manufacturer specifies different mounting dimensions for each version. The 00480 has a 46 mm dimension (i) and a 38 mm inner diameter (Ø1), while the 00481 measures 50 mm and 42 mm respectively. The largest 00482 has a mounting dimension (i) of 59 mm and an inner diameter (Ø1) of 46 mm.

The mounting hole diameters are 5 mm for the 00480 and 6.5 mm for both the 00481 and 00482. These measurements are important for confirming the correct replacement and should be checked against the existing propeller assembly.

Galvanic Corrosion Protection

Manufactured from zinc, the Tecnoseal Max Prop anodes function as sacrificial components in compatible propeller corrosion protection systems. When electrically connected to the underwater metallic components requiring protection, zinc corrodes preferentially, helping reduce galvanic corrosion.

Zinc sacrificial anodes are commonly used in saltwater environments. Confirm material suitability according to the vessel's operating conditions and the propeller manufacturer's recommendations.

Inspection and Replacement

Inspect the propeller anode during routine maintenance and replace it when significantly depleted, damaged or no longer securely mounted.

Before installing a replacement, check the propeller hub diameter, the three-hole mounting arrangement and the condition of the fastening surfaces. Ensure suitable electrical contact between the anode and the metallic component requiring protection.
