The Tecnoseal 00487 and 00488 are zinc sacrificial propeller anodes designed for compatible Max Prop variable-pitch propeller assemblies. These replacement anodes are available for propeller hub diameters of 63 mm and 70 mm, providing sacrificial galvanic corrosion protection for electrically connected underwater metallic components of the propeller system.

Both anodes feature a tapered, conical body with a rounded profile and a recessed mounting base. The mounting arrangement incorporates three fastening holes positioned around the circular body, allowing attachment to the corresponding Max Prop propeller hub.

The Tecnoseal 00487 is designed for a 63 mm propeller hub and measures 60 mm in outside diameter and 40 mm in height. The larger Tecnoseal 00488 is intended for a 70 mm hub and measures 68 mm in outside diameter and 43 mm in height. Both versions are manufactured from zinc, with weights of 0.26 kg and 0.56 kg respectively.

Max Prop Compatibility

These Tecnoseal zinc anodes are intended for Max Prop variable-pitch propellers with the following hub sizes:

• 63 mm propeller hub: Tecnoseal 00487
• 70 mm propeller hub: Tecnoseal 00488

The hub diameter refers to the corresponding propeller hub size and should not be confused with the outside diameter of the anode. For example, the 00487 is intended for a 63 mm hub but has an outside diameter of 60 mm, while the 00488 is intended for a 70 mm hub and has an outside diameter of 68 mm.

Before ordering, verify the existing anode dimensions, the hub size and the three-hole mounting arrangement to identify the correct replacement.

Design and Mounting Configuration

The Tecnoseal 00487 and 00488 have a conical outer profile with a circular mounting base. The manufacturer's illustrations show three fastening holes arranged around the anode body and a recessed central mounting section.

The smaller 00487 features a mounting dimension (i) of 43 mm and an internal diameter (Ø1) of 39 mm. The larger 00488 has a mounting dimension of 51 mm and an internal diameter of 44 mm.

The additional fastening dimensions are Ø2 = 7 mm and Ø3 = 4 mm for the 00487, while the 00488 has Ø2 = 8 mm and Ø3 = 4 mm. These differences should be considered when confirming compatibility with the propeller assembly.

Galvanic Corrosion Protection

Manufactured from zinc, both anodes serve as sacrificial corrosion protection components for compatible Max Prop assemblies. When electrically connected to the metallic parts requiring protection, the zinc material corrodes preferentially, helping reduce galvanic corrosion of underwater propeller components.

Zinc anodes are commonly used in saltwater environments. Material suitability should be checked according to the vessel's operating conditions and the propeller manufacturer's recommendations.

Inspection and Replacement

Inspect the anode periodically during propeller maintenance and replace it when significantly depleted or damaged.

Before installation, inspect the fastening surfaces, verify the three-hole mounting geometry and ensure suitable electrical contact between the anode and the metallic components requiring protection.
