The Tecnoseal Max Prop 6-Hole Propeller Anodes are sacrificial corrosion protection components designed for compatible Max Prop feathering propeller assemblies. Available in zinc and magnesium, these replacement anodes fit propeller hubs with diameters of 63 mm, 70 mm and 83 mm, corresponding to the MP63R, MP70R and MP83R configurations.

Each anode features a rounded, conical exterior with a circular mounting base and six fastening holes. This configuration is designed for attachment to the corresponding propeller hub. The sacrificial material helps protect electrically connected underwater metallic propeller components against galvanic corrosion.

Max Prop Compatibility

These anodes are intended for Max Prop assemblies with six-hole mounting configurations. The manufacturer specifies three compatible propeller hub diameters:

MP63R – Prop Hub Ø63 mm: Tecnoseal 00480/6 (Zinc) and 00480-6MG (Magnesium).
MP70R – Prop Hub Ø70 mm: Tecnoseal 00481/6 (Zinc) and 00481-6MG (Magnesium).
MP83R – Prop Hub Ø83 mm: Tecnoseal 00482/6 (Zinc) and 00482-6MG (Magnesium).

The specified propeller hub diameter is not the same as the outside diameter of the anode. For example, the MP63R replacement anode measures 61 mm externally, while the MP83R version measures 80 mm externally.

Before ordering, confirm the propeller hub diameter and compare the original anode with the technical drawing, particularly the six-hole fastening arrangement and mounting dimensions.

Design and Mounting Dimensions

The Tecnoseal Max Prop 6-hole anodes have a rounded, tapered body with a circular mounting base. The manufacturer's technical drawing identifies the overall height (h), outside diameter (Ø), internal diameter (Ø1), two mounting dimensions (i and i1), and fastening hole dimensions (Ø2 and Ø3).

The MP63R version measures 61 mm in outside diameter and 38 mm in height. Its mounting dimensions are i = 43 mm and i1 = 46 mm, with Ø1 = 39 mm and fastening dimensions Ø2 and Ø3 both measuring 6.5 mm.

The MP70R version measures 68 mm in outside diameter and 44 mm in height. Its mounting dimensions are i = 50 mm and i1 = 51 mm, with Ø1 = 44 mm, Ø2 = 6.5 mm and Ø3 = 5 mm.

The larger MP83R version measures 80 mm in outside diameter and 56 mm in height. It has mounting dimensions i = 54 mm and i1 = 59 mm, with Ø1 = 47 mm, Ø2 = 8.5 mm and Ø3 = 6 mm.

Although all versions share the same general design, their mounting dimensions differ. Select the replacement according to the compatible hub size and existing fastening configuration.

Zinc and Magnesium Anode Materials

These Tecnoseal propeller anodes are available in two sacrificial materials. Both are intended to provide galvanic corrosion protection by corroding preferentially when correctly connected to the underwater metallic components requiring protection.

Zinc: Commonly used for sacrificial corrosion protection in saltwater environments. Available for all three Max Prop hub sizes.
Magnesium: Generally selected for freshwater corrosion protection applications. Available for the same three hub sizes.

Material selection should take into account the operating water conditions, existing corrosion protection arrangement and Max Prop manufacturer's recommendations.

Inspection and Replacement

Inspect the propeller anode during routine maintenance. Replace the component when the sacrificial material has become significantly depleted, damaged or no longer securely attached.

Before installation, verify the hub diameter, inspect the six-hole fastening arrangement and check the contact surfaces. Ensure appropriate electrical continuity between the anode and the metallic component requiring protection.
