The Tecnoseal 00486 and 00486-1 are zinc sacrificial propeller anodes designed for compatible Max Prop propeller assemblies. These replacement anodes are specified for propeller hub diameters of 125 mm and 150 mm and feature a three-hole mounting configuration for attachment to the corresponding hub.

Both anodes have a rounded, tapered body with a recessed internal mounting section and three fastening holes positioned around the base. Their zinc construction provides sacrificial corrosion protection for electrically connected underwater metallic components of the propeller assembly.

The Tecnoseal 00486 is intended for a 125 mm propeller hub and measures 130 mm in outside diameter and 79 mm in overall height. The larger Tecnoseal 00486-1 is intended for a 150 mm propeller hub and measures 151 mm in outside diameter and 60 mm in height. The variants have different internal and mounting dimensions, making accurate identification important when selecting a replacement.

Max Prop Compatibility

These Tecnoseal anodes are designed for compatible Max Prop assemblies with the following propeller hub diameters:

• Prop Hub Ø125 mm: Tecnoseal 00486
• Prop Hub Ø150 mm: Tecnoseal 00486-1

The specified hub diameter identifies the corresponding propeller hub and should not be confused with the external diameter of the anode. For example, the 00486 has a 130 mm outside diameter for a 125 mm propeller hub, while the 00486-1 has a 151 mm outside diameter for a 150 mm propeller hub.

Before ordering, verify the existing anode dimensions, the propeller hub diameter and the three-hole mounting arrangement against the manufacturer's technical drawing.

Design and Mounting Configuration

Both anodes feature a tapered, rounded external profile with three fastening holes positioned around the circular mounting base. The recessed internal section allows installation on the corresponding propeller hub configuration.

The Tecnoseal 00486 has an overall height of 79 mm, an outside diameter of 130 mm and a mounting dimension (i) of 85 mm. Its internal diameter (Ø1) is 81 mm, while the three mounting holes have a specified diameter (Ø2) of 10 mm.

The Tecnoseal 00486-1 has an overall height of 60 mm and an outside diameter of 151 mm. Its mounting dimension (i) measures 113 mm, with an internal diameter (Ø1) of 101 mm and mounting hole diameter (Ø2) of 10 mm.

Although the two versions share the same general construction and fastening hole diameter, their different external and internal dimensions mean they should not be considered interchangeable.

Galvanic Corrosion Protection

Manufactured from zinc, these Max Prop anodes function as sacrificial corrosion protection components. When electrically connected to the underwater metallic components requiring protection, zinc corrodes preferentially, helping reduce galvanic corrosion of the propeller assembly.

Zinc sacrificial anodes are commonly used in saltwater environments. Confirm the suitability of the material according to the vessel's operating conditions and the propeller manufacturer's recommendations.

Inspection and Replacement

Inspect the anode during routine propeller maintenance and replace it when significantly depleted, damaged or no longer securely mounted.

During replacement, verify the propeller hub diameter and mounting geometry. Check the fastening surfaces and ensure suitable electrical contact between the sacrificial anode and the metallic components requiring protection.
