The Tecnoseal 01036 is a zinc sacrificial propeller ring anode designed for Varifold VF70 2-blade folding propellers with Saildrive installations. It corresponds to original Varifold part number VF2SDA and provides a replacement sacrificial corrosion protection component for compatible propeller assemblies.

Unlike conventional dome-shaped propeller nut anodes, the Tecnoseal 01036 features a circular, split-ring construction with a central opening. Its ring-shaped design incorporates lateral fastening points, allowing the anode to be secured around the corresponding mounting section of the Varifold propeller assembly.

The anode measures 85 mm (3.35 in) in outside diameter, 67 mm (2.64 in) in internal diameter and 19 mm (0.75 in) in overall height. The manufacturer's technical drawing also specifies a fastening hole diameter of 7 mm (0.28 in). Manufactured from zinc, the anode weighs 0.22 kg (0.49 lbs).

Galvanic Corrosion Protection

Manufactured from zinc, the Tecnoseal 01036 functions as a sacrificial corrosion protection component. When electrically connected to the underwater metallic parts requiring protection, zinc corrodes preferentially, helping reduce galvanic corrosion of the propeller assembly.

Zinc sacrificial anodes are commonly selected for saltwater environments. Material suitability should be confirmed according to the vessel's operating conditions and the propeller manufacturer's recommendations.

Inspection and Replacement

Inspect the propeller ring anode during routine folding propeller maintenance. Replace it when the sacrificial zinc material is significantly depleted, damaged or no longer securely mounted.
