The Maxwell RC12-11 is a stainless steel vertical automatic rope/chain windlass with drum from the Maxwell RC12 Series, supplied under article number Vetus P104959. This model is powered by a 12 V DC electric motor rated at 1200 W and features clockwise (CW) rotation with a 190 TDC chainwheel configuration. The integrated drum provides additional flexibility for rope handling in anchoring and auxiliary winching operations.
The windlass incorporates an automatic rope/chain handling system designed to ensure smooth and controlled anchor deployment and retrieval. A ratcheted mechanism lever prevents backwinding during emergency manual recovery of the anchor rode, enhancing operational safety under load.
For safe and correct operation, the windlass must be used in conjunction with a chain stopper and/or an alternative snubbing device to remove load from the windlass while the vessel is lying at anchor. These securing systems must also be used to lock the anchor in the fully raised position when the vessel is underway. The RC12-11 with drum is supplied as part of a complete automatic dual-direction control package.
