The Maxwell RC12-11 is a stainless steel vertical automatic rope/chain windlass from the Maxwell RC12 Series, supplied under article number Vetus P104924. This model is equipped with a 12 V DC electric motor rated at 1200 W and features anti-clockwise (ACW) rotation with a 90 TDC chainwheel. It is designed for reliable combined rope and chain anchoring operations on marine vessels.
The windlass incorporates an automatic rope/chain handling system to ensure smooth and controlled anchor deployment and retrieval. A ratcheted mechanism lever prevents backwinding during emergency manual recovery of the anchor rode, enhancing operational safety.
For safe and correct operation, this windlass must be used in conjunction with a chain stopper and/or an alternative snubbing device to remove load from the windlass while the vessel is lying at anchor. These securing systems must also be used to secure the anchor in the fully raised position when the vessel is underway. The RC12-11 is supplied without an integrated drum, allowing flexible installation according to vessel layout.
