The Maxwell RC12-11 is a stainless steel vertical automatic rope/chain hydraulic windlass from the Maxwell RC12 Series, supplied under article number Vetus P104926. This model features a 90 TDC chainwheel with anti-clockwise (ACW) rotation and is engineered for combined rope and chain anchoring operations on marine vessels.
The windlass incorporates an automatic rope/chain handling system that enables smooth and controlled anchor deployment and retrieval. A ratcheted mechanism lever prevents backwinding during emergency manual recovery of the anchor rode, enhancing operational safety when handling load.
For safe and correct operation, this windlass must be used in conjunction with a chain stopper and/or an alternative snubbing device to remove load from the windlass while the vessel is lying at anchor. These securing systems must also be used to secure the anchor in the fully raised position when the vessel is underway. The RC12-11 hydraulic windlass is supplied as part of a complete automatic dual-direction control system.
