The Maxwell RC12-10 is a stainless steel vertical automatic rope/chain windlass with drum from Maxwell’s top-range RC Series. This 190TDC model is designed for controlled anchoring operations using short-link chain in combination with nylon rope, while the integrated drum provides additional line handling capability.
The windlass features an automatic rope/chain handling system and a ratcheted mechanism lever that prevents backwinding during emergency manual retrieval of the anchor rode. For safe and correct operation, the windlass must be used in conjunction with a chain stopper and/or an alternative snubbing device to remove load from the windlass while the vessel is lying at anchor. These systems must also be used to secure the anchor in the fully raised position when underway.
