The Maxwell RC12-10 is a vertical automatic rope/chain windlass from Maxwell’s top-range RC Series, engineered for reliable anchoring on vessels up to 55–60 feet depending on displacement. It is designed to handle 10 mm short-link chain and 16–20 mm nylon rope, providing controlled deployment and retrieval of the anchor rode.
Constructed from stainless steel, the windlass combines strength, durability, and a compact installation profile. The integrated drum adds independent rope-handling capability, extending operational flexibility during anchoring and deck operations.
Activation of the ratcheted mechanism lever ensures the windlass cannot backwind during emergency manual retrieval of the rode and anchor. For safe operation, Maxwell windlasses must be used in conjunction with a chain stopper and/or an alternative snubbing device to remove load from the windlass while at anchor and to secure the anchor in the fully raised position while under way.
Every Maxwell automatic rope/chain windlass is supplied with all necessary components for fully automatic dual-direction control. The RC12-10 is also available in a version with increased deck clearance.
