Clamcleat CL257 Auto-Release Racing Mini is a compact aluminium and acetal cleat designed for 4–6 mm (5/32–1/4") rope, primarily for rudder downhaul systems. It holds the rudder blade securely during normal use but automatically releases if the blade strikes the bottom or an obstacle, helping prevent damage. The release tension is adjustable, and the cleat can be reset in seconds by pushing it back into its base.

Clamcleat CL257 Auto-Release Racing Mini Cleat for 4–6 mm Rope
Clamcleat CL257 Auto-Release Racing Mini is designed to secure a lifting rudder blade while providing automatic release if the blade strikes the bottom or another obstacle.
During normal sailing the cleat holds the rudder down securely. If excessive load is applied, the cleat releases to help protect the rudder blade and associated fittings from damage.
After release, the CL257 can be reset quickly by pushing the cleat back into its base. An adjustable cam allows the release tension to be set according to the boat, rudder blade and sailing conditions.
The cleat is suitable for most lifting tillers and can also be used to protect centreboards. Fitting instructions include rigging options for a 2:1 mechanical advantage and different rope arrangements.
