The Tecnoseal Variprofile VP64 Propeller Nut Anodes are sacrificial corrosion protection components designed for compatible Variprofile VP64 propeller assemblies. Available in zinc, aluminium and magnesium, these replacement anodes share identical external and mounting dimensions, allowing the appropriate sacrificial material to be selected according to the vessel's operating environment.

The manufacturer specifies compatibility with Variprofile VP64 propellers in the 17–22 inch propeller size range. Each anode features a rounded, dome-shaped outer profile with a recessed mounting base and central fastening arrangement. This design provides a replaceable sacrificial component for the corresponding propeller configuration.

All three versions measure 55 mm (2.17 in) in outside diameter and 25 mm (0.98 in) in overall height, with a central diameter (Ø1) of 6 mm (0.24 in) and a base diameter (Ø2) of 50 mm (1.97 in). The principal differences between the variants are their sacrificial materials and weights.

Variprofile VP64 Compatibility

These Tecnoseal anodes are specified for Variprofile VP64 propeller assemblies with compatible propeller sizes ranging from 17 to 22 inches.

The 17–22 inch specification refers to the compatible propeller size range and should not be confused with the propeller shaft diameter or the external dimensions of the anode.

All three material versions share the same nominal dimensions and mounting configuration. Before ordering, verify the VP64 model designation and compare the original anode's geometry with the manufacturer's technical drawing.

Design and Mounting Configuration

The Tecnoseal VP64 anode features a rounded, dome-shaped outer surface and a recessed circular mounting area. The manufacturer's illustrations show a central axial opening and two additional mounting positions visible on the base.

The overall height (h) is 25 mm, while the maximum external diameter (Ø) is 55 mm. The central dimension (Ø1) measures 6 mm, and the base diameter (Ø2) measures 50 mm.

These dimensions are identical for the zinc, aluminium and magnesium versions. The selected replacement should match the original anode's mounting geometry and the intended Variprofile VP64 installation.

Zinc, Aluminium and Magnesium Anode Materials

The Tecnoseal VP64 range is available in three sacrificial materials, each intended for corrosion protection in appropriate marine operating conditions.

• Zinc – Tecnoseal 01074: Commonly selected for sacrificial corrosion protection in saltwater environments. Weight: 0.24 kg.
• Aluminium – Tecnoseal 01074AL: Suitable for appropriate saltwater and brackish-water corrosion protection applications, subject to the propeller manufacturer's recommendations. Weight: 0.09 kg.
• Magnesium – Tecnoseal 01074MG: Generally used for freshwater corrosion protection applications. Weight: 0.06 kg.

When correctly installed with suitable electrical contact, the sacrificial anode material corrodes preferentially, helping reduce galvanic corrosion of electrically connected underwater metallic propeller components.

Material selection should be based on the vessel's operating water conditions and the existing corrosion protection arrangement.

Inspection and Replacement

Inspect the Variprofile propeller anode during routine maintenance and replace it when the sacrificial material becomes significantly depleted, damaged or no longer securely mounted.

Before installation, confirm the propeller model and mounting dimensions. Check the fastening points and contact surfaces, and follow the propeller manufacturer's installation instructions.
