The Maxwell RC12-10 is a stainless steel vertical automatic rope/chain windlass from Maxwell’s top-range RC Series. It is designed for controlled anchoring operations using a combination of short-link chain and nylon rope. The windlass incorporates an automatic rope/chain handling system and a ratcheted mechanism lever to prevent backwinding during emergency manual retrieval of the anchor rode.
For safe and correct operation, this windlass must be used together with a chain stopper and/or an alternative snubbing device. These components are required to remove the load from the windlass while the vessel is lying at anchor and to secure the anchor in the fully raised position when underway.
