The Maxwell RC12-10 is a stainless steel vertical automatic rope/chain windlass from Maxwell’s top-range RC Series. Designed for reliable anchoring operations, it is suitable for combined use with short-link chain and nylon rope. The windlass incorporates an automatic rope/chain handling system and a ratcheted mechanism lever that prevents backwinding during emergency manual retrieval of the anchor rode.
For safe operation, this windlass must be used in conjunction with a chain stopper and/or an alternative snubbing device. These systems are required to remove load from the windlass while at anchor and to secure the anchor in the fully raised position when underway.
