The Vetus ZWBH35 Flexible Inner Bearing is a high-performance shaft seal developed for 35 mm propeller shafts and 56 mm stern tubes. Designed for water-lubricated stern gear systems, this advanced monoblock design provides superior protection, combining flexibility, durability, and a triple sealing configuration for maximum watertight integrity.
Constructed from 65–70 Shore NBR rubber, the ZWBH35 features three vulcanized lip seals for enhanced leak resistance, along with a Ø10 mm brass hose pillar for continuous water injection. This ensures consistent lubrication and cooling, even under demanding conditions. The material’s flexibility allows it to absorb vibration and compensate for minor shaft misalignments, while maintaining excellent sealing performance over time.
To maintain proper cooling and lubrication, a minimum water flow of 20 liters per hour is recommended, ideally sourced from the engine’s cooling system or a dedicated hull inlet. For vessels exceeding 12 knots, an external water feed is highly advisable. On slower boats, routing the hose above the waterline allows it to serve as a vent. The seal operates effectively within a temperature range of -15°C to +85°C, making it suitable for various marine environments. Annual lubrication with silicone grease keeps the seal in optimal condition.
The ZWBH35 is compatible with bronze, GRP, and steel stern tubes and is supplied complete with two stainless steel hose clamps and silicone grease for installation and maintenance convenience.
