How the Shaft Grounding System Works

The silver-plated ring is fitted around the propeller shaft and provides a conductive contact surface. Two graphite brushes in the brush holder maintain sliding electrical contact with the ring as the shaft rotates.

This arrangement provides an electrical contact path between the rotating shaft and the grounding connection when correctly installed as part of the vessel's electrical system.

Choosing the Correct Size

Select the grounding kit according to the diameter of the propeller shaft. Tecnoseal offers seven versions covering shaft diameters from 80 to 110 mm.
