Construction and Mounting
Each MME anode consists of an aluminium alloy body incorporating a mild steel mounting insert. The insert extends beyond the anode body and provides the attachment points for welding the anode to the steel structure.
All 10 models feature mounting inserts with a nominal thickness of 5 mm. The insert width is 40 mm for most models, while the MME6AS features a 30 mm wide insert.
- MME4A: 500 × 40 × 5 mm mild steel insert.
- MME6AL: 680 × 40 × 5 mm mild steel insert.
- MME6AS: 560 × 30 × 5 mm mild steel insert.
- MME8A: 680 × 40 × 5 mm mild steel insert.
- MME10A: 680 × 40 × 5 mm mild steel insert.
- MME125A: 680 × 40 × 5 mm mild steel insert.
- MME13A: 1075 × 40 × 5 mm mild steel insert.
- MME15A: 1075 × 40 × 5 mm mild steel insert.
- MME18A: 1075 × 40 × 5 mm mild steel insert.
- MME21A: 1075 × 40 × 5 mm mild steel insert.
The anodes can also be supplied with a backside coating. This option should be specified separately when required.
Dimensions and Model Selection
The MME aluminium anode range includes 10 models with different body sizes. Body dimensions are specified as length × width × height, excluding the projecting portions of the mounting insert.
Compact and Medium-Length Anodes
- MME4A: 400 × 150 × 33 mm body, 500 mm overall insert length, nominal net weight 4 kg.
- MME6AL: 550 × 130 × 40 mm body, 680 mm overall insert length, nominal net weight 6 kg.
- MME6AS: 447 × 104 × 60 mm body, 560 mm overall insert length, nominal net weight 6 kg.
- MME8A: 550 × 130 × 55 mm body, 680 mm overall insert length, nominal net weight 8 kg.
- MME10A: 540 × 130 × 74 mm body, 680 mm overall insert length, nominal net weight 10 kg.
- MME125A: 537 × 130 × 95 mm body, 680 mm overall insert length, nominal net weight 12.5 kg.
Long Anodes – 1075 mm Mounting Insert
- MME13A: 905 × 130 × 50 mm body, nominal net weight 13 kg.
- MME15A: 920 × 130 × 56 mm body, nominal net weight 15 kg.
- MME18A: 910 × 130 × 72 mm body, nominal net weight 18 kg.
- MME21A: 910 × 130 × 80 mm body, nominal net weight 21 kg.
The MME6AL and MME8A share the same body length and width of 550 × 130 mm but differ in height and nominal weight. The MME10A and MME125A have similar overall mounting dimensions but different body lengths and heights.
The four long models share an overall mounting insert length of 1075 mm and a body width of 130 mm. Their body lengths, heights and nominal weights vary.
When selecting a replacement anode, compare the body dimensions, mounting insert length and available installation space with the existing arrangement.
Corrosion Protection and Water Compatibility
The MME aluminium alloy anodes provide sacrificial cathodic protection by corroding preferentially to the protected metal structure.
Aluminium alloy anodes are suitable for saltwater and brackish water applications. Their electrochemical properties allow them to provide cathodic protection for steel structures when correctly selected and installed.
- Saltwater: Suitable for marine saltwater applications.
- Brackish Water: Aluminium is the recommended sacrificial anode material for brackish water applications on steel structures.
Dimensions and Weight Tolerances
All dimensions and weights specified for these anodes are nominal. The manufacturer's drawings specify a minimum/maximum anode weight tolerance of ±5%.
Product dimensions, weights and technical specifications are subject to change without prior notice.
