Type:
- NMEA 2000 Micro Male
- SeaTalk NG Connector
The device is designed to connect motors equipped with a digital J1708 bus to the NMEA 2000 network. The device transmits the engine operating parameters to the NMEA 2000 network: the number of revolutions per minute, the temperature of oil and coolant, operating time, fuel consumption and others. Data will be available to all navigation instruments and displays connected to the NMEA 2000 network.

The device supports two data exchange protocols based on the J1708 standard: the J1587 protocol supported by many engine manufacturers (Detroit Diesel, etc.) and the Volvo Penta KAD protocol used in engines with EDC-I (KAD 44, KAD 300, TAMD73.. 75); also compatible with EDC-II (D12C-A MP).
Features:
- is the first (and only!) Volvo Penta KAD private protocol enabled device;
- user-configurable warnings about high RPM, pressurization pressure, coolant temperature; low oil pressure or generator voltage;
- Low cost and easy to connect, in most cases no additional cables are required
- Customizable with a text file with microSD card settings;
- high-voltage galvanic isolation between J1708 bus and NMEA 2000 network;
- the function of recording data exchange on the J1708 bus for diagnostics and configuration is implemented;
- one device is sufficient to obtain data from one engine, two batteries and two fuel tanks.
Connection Methods:
The device is equipped with a socket-type connector compatible with the Volvo Penta EDC diagnostic connector used on engines equipped with EDC-I and EDC-II control systems. To connect engines from other manufacturers, an disassembled plug connector and two terminals for self-assembly and connection are supplied with the device. Design options are available with a connector for connecting to the Raymarine SeaTalk NG network and with an NMEA Micro Male connector.
Use the instrument to:
- duplicate or replace faulty motor control panel instruments;
- monitor the engine operating parameters from any cabin via the Wi-Fi network of the cartplotter;
- monitor engine performance on a PC or smartphone using our Wi-Fi Gateway;
- save data on engine parameters and fuel consumption using our Voyage Recorder;
- save data for remote engine diagnostics.
Download the instruction with a list of supported PIDs for the J1587 and KAD protocols. Current consumption from the NMEA 2000 network: 30 mA at a supply voltage of 7-17 V. The length of the interface cable is J1708: 800 mm. Body length: 54 mm.
