The Maxwell RC12-12 is a vertical hydraulic rope/chain windlass with drum, supplied under article number Vetus P100450. Designed for installations with limited space, it is suitable for use in sailing boat anchor lockers and can also be mounted on a fore-and-aft bulkhead inside the chain locker for below-deck installation.
This windlass is engineered for traditional rope and chain combination anchor rodes and permits the use of standard shackle and thimble rope-to-chain connections. The independent warping drum allows functional rope hauling from any direction, while clutch disengagement of the chainwheel provides positive control of all ropes. The design also enables operation of two anchors from a single winch.
A cone-type brake and clutch mechanism permits smooth and progressive manual free-fall anchoring, ensuring controlled operation. The windlass features a chainwheel locking pawl and is designed for simplified through-deck installation using a modular layout with precise gearbox alignment. Above-deck components are manufactured from marine-grade stainless steel (AISI 316) and chromed bronze for long-term durability.
