The Maxwell RC12-12 is a stainless steel vertical automatic rope/chain windlass from Maxwell’s RC12 Series, supplied under article number Vetus P104939. This model is powered by a 12 V DC electric motor rated at 1200 W and features a 190 TDC chainwheel with clockwise (CW) rotation. It is engineered for high-load anchoring applications requiring dependable performance and durability.
Designed for use with 12–13 mm short link chain and 20 mm nylon rope, the RC12-12 delivers a maximum pull of 1590 kg. The automatic rope/chain handling system ensures smooth and controlled anchor deployment and retrieval under load.
The windlass incorporates a ratcheted mechanism lever that prevents backwinding during emergency manual recovery of the anchor rode. For safe and correct operation, the windlass must be used in conjunction with a chain stopper and/or an alternative snubbing device to remove load from the windlass while the vessel is lying at anchor. These securing systems must also be used to secure the anchor in the fully raised position when the vessel is underway.
