The Lewmar CRW400 is a compact electric captive reel windlass engineered for boats up to 9 metres (30 ft). Unlike conventional rope-and-chain windlasses, the captive reel design stores the rope directly on an internal drum, providing controlled deployment and retrieval from a compact self-contained unit.
The windlass is constructed around a durable AISI 316 stainless steel chassis with composite bearing technology and a UV-stabilised ABS housing for long-term resistance to corrosion and harsh marine conditions. An integrated level-wind mechanism distributes the rope evenly across the drum during operation for smooth and consistent performance.
Powered by a 400 W, 12 V motor, the CRW400 accommodates up to 35 metres of 6 mm rope, delivers a maximum pulling force of 275 kg, and offers retrieval speeds of up to 25 m/min. The unit is suitable for rope-based anchoring systems as well as tender lifting and other compact marine applications.
