The Vetus ZINKAS25C is a precision-engineered shaft collar zinc anode developed for effective cathodic protection of propeller shafts with a diameter of 25 mm. Shaft anodes are exposed to continuous water flow and mechanical stress; therefore, Vetus designs these anodes to ensure a perfect fit and secure retention throughout their service life. The ZINKAS series incorporates an interlock system in both halves, guaranteeing exact alignment and preventing the anode from loosening, even as material is consumed.
This anode is manufactured from high-purity zinc in accordance with MIL-A-18001K specifications, ensuring predictable electrochemical performance in saltwater and brackish environments. Shaft anodes are not recommended for high-speed vessels, as they may create turbulence around the propeller and, during erosion, can introduce imbalance. For such applications, a propeller nut with integrated anode is preferred. For conventional propulsion systems, the ZINKAS25C provides dependable protection against galvanic corrosion of the shaft.
