Aligning and concentric mounting of a boat's propeller shaft is not easy, if not impossible. The Vetus flexible couplings model Uniflex offer a solution to this problem. In addition to the properties of the Vetus couplings presented on this page, they offer the additional advantage that they can compensate for shaft misalignment with the reverse gear by up to 2º. On top of that, center the shaft on the reversing gear. Therefore, the Uniflex coupling is an ideal flexible medium for a propeller shaft system with a freely suspended bottom bracket and an engine on flexible engine mounts. If the shaft actually makes an angle of 2º with the motor, then the maximum permissible speed is 1500 rpm, limited to the shaft.

These couplings are axially and radially secured against breakdown. These clutches are not suitable for V-gearboxes.
