How do Ronstan Cheek Blocks support high static loads in specific sailing configurations?
Ronstan Cheek Blocks are engineered to handle high static loads with precision-molded acetal sheaves running on stainless steel ball bearings, reducing friction and ensuring smooth operation under tension. Their design, including the option for a block with a becket, makes them suitable for control line applications, halyards, and other demanding sailing configurations requiring durability and load distribution.
What factors should be considered when selecting the right Ronstan Cheek Block for specific sailing setups?
When selecting the right Ronstan Cheek Block for specific sailing setups, consider the load requirements and the type of control lines being used, such as sheets or halyards. Ensure compatibility with the intended mounting location, such as the boom or spar, and check for features like stainless steel ball bearings and precision-molded acetal sheaves to provide high performance and durability. Additionally, evaluate the rated working load and suitability for dynamic or high static applications.
What is the recommended maintenance tip for keeping the Ronstan Cheek Block in optimal condition?
To maintain the Ronstan Cheek Block in optimal condition, regularly inspect the sheave and ensure it runs smoothly on its stainless steel bearings, cleaning off any debris or salt buildup. Lubricate the sheave sparingly with a marine-grade lubricant to reduce friction on control lines like vang or halyards. Periodic checks of the aluminum body and mounting screws for corrosion or wear will help ensure long service life.
