Optiparts EX1217 is a buoyancy bag designed for Optimist sailboats, providing increased flotation capacity and helping to minimize water accumulation after capsize. With a 48-liter volume, it offers enhanced buoyancy compared to smaller bags.
Manufactured from polyurethane-coated nylon, this buoyancy bag is significantly stronger and approximately half the weight of traditional PVC or PVC-coated alternatives, ensuring durability and improved handling.
This version is fitted with a twist lock tube valve, enabling quick and efficient inflation and deflation. The valve system simplifies handling and allows for easy adjustment of internal pressure.
The larger 48-liter capacity results in slightly increased weight compared to 43-liter versions but significantly improves post-capsize performance by keeping more water out of the hull.
For safe operation, the buoyancy bag should not be over-inflated. When properly filled, it should remain soft to the touch. Over-inflation combined with heat exposure may cause damage. Care should also be taken to avoid sharp objects inside the hull that could puncture the bag.
