The Tecnoseal 01001 and 01002 are zinc sacrificial trim skeg anodes designed for BMW Sterndrive Mark 2 marine propulsion systems. Available in long and short configurations, these replacement anodes provide sacrificial galvanic corrosion protection for electrically connected underwater metallic components of compatible sterndrive assemblies.

The Tecnoseal 01001 Long Skeg Anode features a length of 155 mm (6.10 in), height of 142 mm (5.59 in), and diameter measurements of Ø66 mm (2.60 in) and Ø1 22 mm (0.87 in). Its weight is 0.63 kg (1.38 lbs).

The Tecnoseal 01002 Short Skeg Anode offers a more compact configuration, measuring 72 mm (2.83 in) in length and height, with an additional h1 dimension of 11 mm (0.43 in). Its diameter measurements are Ø65 mm (2.56 in) and Ø1 22 mm (0.87 in), with a weight of 0.34 kg (0.74 lbs).

Both versions are manufactured from zinc and feature a 3/8-inch UNC mounting thread. The long and short configurations have different physical dimensions and should be selected according to the original component installed on the sterndrive.

BMW Sterndrive Mark 2 Compatibility

Both Tecnoseal variants are specified for BMW Sterndrive Mark 2 propulsion systems. They are intended for the trim skeg anode application but feature different external dimensions.

The Long Skeg version is identified by its 155 mm length, while the Short Skeg version measures 72 mm in length. These variants should not be treated as interchangeable without confirming the original skeg configuration and mounting arrangement.

Before ordering, check the existing anode against the dimensions provided and verify the 3/8-inch UNC fastening specification.

Design and Mounting Dimensions

The Tecnoseal 01001 and 01002 are supplied in two different skeg configurations to suit the corresponding BMW Sterndrive Mark 2 installations.

The Long Skeg anode has a nominal length of 155 mm and height of 142 mm, while the Short Skeg anode measures 72 mm in both length and height. The Short Skeg version additionally includes an h1 measurement of 11 mm.

Both components use the specified 3/8-inch UNC thread. The remaining dimensional references, Ø and Ø1, should be compared with the corresponding positions on the manufacturer's technical drawing.

Zinc Sacrificial Corrosion Protection

These Tecnoseal trim skeg anodes are manufactured from zinc, a commonly used sacrificial material for saltwater marine corrosion protection.

When correctly installed with suitable electrical contact to the metallic components requiring protection, the zinc corrodes preferentially, helping reduce galvanic corrosion of electrically connected underwater sterndrive components.

Material suitability should be confirmed according to the vessel's operating environment and the requirements of the existing corrosion protection arrangement.

Inspection and Replacement

Inspect the trim skeg anode during routine BMW Sterndrive maintenance. Replace it when the zinc material is significantly depleted, damaged or no longer securely attached.

Before installation, confirm whether the drive requires the Long or Short Skeg configuration, inspect the mounting connection and verify the original anode dimensions.

Follow the sterndrive manufacturer's installation instructions and ensure suitable electrical contact between the anode and the metallic components requiring protection.
