Yacht Devices YDNG-03 NMEA 0183 Gateway
The Yacht Devices YDNG-03 NMEA 0183 Gateway facilitates seamless communication between NMEA 0183 equipment and NMEA 2000 networks. It serves as a bi-directional converter with extensive support for various message types, including AIS and autopilot controls.
Versatile Connectivity
This gateway features one NMEA 2000 connection and one NMEA 0183 port with transmit and receive data lines. The NMEA 0183 port's baud rate is configurable from 300 to 115200 baud, allowing for the connection of AIS transceivers (38400 baud), fast NMEA 0183 multiplexers, PC adapters, and standard NMEA 0183 equipment. It supports both "single ended" (RS-232) and "differential" (RS-422) NMEA 0183 connections, making it compatible with COM (serial) ports of PCs and USB-to-serial adapters.
Easy Configuration and Updates
The device is equipped with a Micro SD card slot for configuration, firmware updates, and diagnostic data logging. No special software is required for updates or configuration; a laptop or smartphone with a MicroSD card reader and a simple text editor is sufficient.
Advanced Features
- Control Raymarine SeaTalk NG autopilots from NMEA 0183.
- Flexible filtering system to block NMEA 0183 messages by sentence and NMEA 2000 messages by PGN, sender address, or 29-bit message identifier.
- Powered from the NMEA 2000 network, with high voltage galvanic isolation between NMEA 2000 and NMEA 0183 ports.
- Acts as a multiplexer for NMEA 0183 equipment.
- Routing between RX and TX lines of the NMEA 0183 port.
- Fast heading (12 Hz) option for radars.
- Diagnostic recordings useful for NMEA troubleshooting.
Technical Specifications
For a detailed list of supported NMEA messages, refer to Appendix D of the Manual.
Network Compatibility
The gateway is certified by the National Marine Electronics Association and compatible with virtually all equipment supporting NMEA 2000. It comes with various types of connectors, making it possible to connect to networks of different manufacturers without adapters. This includes Raymarine SeaTalk NG, Simrad SimNet, and Furuno CAN networks, which differ only by connector type. Garmin uses the NMEA 2000 Micro connector, compatible with the DeviceNet Micro connector.
