The Vetus Zinc Bolt-On Hull Anodes are designed to offer reliable protection against corrosion for metal components submerged in saltwater. These anodes are made from high-quality zinc, meeting the stringent US military technical standard (A - 18001 K) to ensure long-lasting protection. They are available in sizes ranging from 1.0 kg to 4.5 kg to suit different hull sizes and applications. Please note that attachment fasteners are sold separately, and you must specify the hull material when ordering.
Vetus zinc anodes are essential for all types of vessels operating in saltwater environments, including steel, fiberglass, and wooden boats. Zinc is the preferred choice for vessels in salty and brackish waters due to its electrochemical properties. When using zinc anodes on fiberglass and wooden boats, make sure the bolts or pins are properly connected to metal parts to ensure efficient protection. A protective paint layer is applied to the mounting side of each anode to prevent damage to the boat's surface.
For fiberglass and wooden boats, only the metal parts should be protected, so the bolts must make direct contact with the metal components. This ensures that corrosion is effectively prevented without affecting the non-metallic parts of the hull. Vetus zinc anodes provide optimal protection in salty and slightly salty waters, and they last longer compared to aluminum anodes, which wear out faster in these conditions.
