Aluminium anodes are recommended for vessels that primarily cruise on inland (fresh) waters. Compared to zinc, aluminium has a greater difference of potential with other metals, making it suitable for use in fresh water environments, where there is higher electrical resistance.
For vessels sailing in salt water or brackish water, zinc anodes are recommended due to their slower rate of sacrifice. However, aluminium anodes can still function effectively in salt water, although they are sacrificed at a faster rate.
Vetus offers a choice between rectangular or tear-drop shapes to match the flowing lines of the boat. The aluminium anodes are made from an aluminium-indium-zinc alloy that meets Mil.-A-24779 (SH) specifications.
Unique features of Vetus anodes include 27 new anode options made from the highest possible material specifications, along with different streamlined shapes to suit various vessel parts.
