Vetus RULAG70PH Phenolic Cutlass Bearing for 70 mm Marine Propeller Shafts
The Vetus RULAG70PH is a water-lubricated cutlass bearing engineered for propulsion systems using a 70 mm shaft together with an imperial-dimension stern tube. Its phenolic resin outer casing, sized at 3 1/2", provides a corrosion-free, lightweight and non-metallic alternative to brass, making it particularly suitable for aluminum boats or installations where galvanic corrosion must be prevented. Inside, the polyurethane-rubber lining features longitudinal grooves to enhance lubrication, cooling efficiency and vibration reduction during continuous operation.
Key Features
- High-wear-resistant polyurethane-rubber lining

Application and Use
Cutlass bearings are essential for maintaining proper alignment and support of marine propeller shafts. Their water-lubricated rubber linings reduce friction, absorb vibration and ensure long-term reliability in demanding marine environments.
Phenolic vs. Brass Bearings
- Phenolic bearings: Recommended for aluminum stern tubes or installations where dissimilar metal contact and galvanic corrosion must be prevented. Lightweight, corrosion-free and non-metallic.
- Brass bearings: Standard in many marine applications due to strength and corrosion resistance, though not suitable where non-metallic solutions are required.
