Zinc Saffron Plate Anode (Bulk)
Zinc anodes are sacrificial components designed to protect metal parts from corrosion. They must be cleaned and replaced regularly to remain effective. When worn beyond 60%, they no longer provide sufficient protection.
For seawater use, an anode made of zinc alloy or aluminium alloy must be used. For the same current output, an aluminium anode weighs three times less than a zinc anode, offers a higher electronegative potential, and causes less pollution. It is perfectly suitable for protecting aluminium hulls.
For navigation exclusively in fresh water, a magnesium anode should be preferred.
