What are the primary uses of an Andersen winch on a boat?
The primary uses of an Andersen winch on a boat include managing sheets and halyards with precision and ease during sailing. Andersen winches, made from polished stainless steel, are designed with vertical ribs on the drum surface to minimize wear and ensure smooth operation. These winches provide reliable performance and durability, making them a valuable piece of sailing hardware for long-term use.
What is the function of the vertical ribs on Andersen winch drums?
The vertical ribs on Andersen winch drums, known as the Power Rib™, are designed to provide a better grip on ropes while minimizing wear. Unlike abrasive surfaces, these ribs reduce the number of turns needed, making Andersen stainless steel winches both efficient and long-lasting. This feature helps deliver season after season of reliable performance and sailing pleasure to their owners.
