Sonitech Light - flexible and light sheets with a thickness of 20 and 40 mm, corresponds to the class of BS4735 fire resistance. VETUS offers four product lines based on either Sonitech or Prometech. Both foams have excellent sound insulation properties and fire resistance. Prometech complies with Class BS476 Fire Resistance Class 0.
All sheets have a size of 100 x 60 cm and a self-adhesive back surface. The self-adhesive layer (acrylic based) provides adhesion to 1000 N/m steel (ATM.1-PSTC.1).
VETUS Sound Insulation
VETUS soundproofing materials represent a wide range of materials intended for marine use. All of them, from the simplest "Sonitech light" to the most advanced "Prometech double," meet the high quality standards of VETUS. All materials are waterproof, fire resistant and use the latest developments in the field of insulating foams.
Core Materials
VETUS sound insulation materials have a similar structure and are based on the use of a set of basic materials. Combinations of these base materials form four main product lines, in each of which the materials may have different thicknesses. To facilitate selection of sound insulation material, descriptions are given in the table below.
Fire resistance class "BS476 Class 0" is by far the most popular on the market. It includes:
• BS476 Part 7, Surface Flame Propagation, Class 1
• BS476 part 6, Fire Spread, Index I & lt; 12 & I1 & lt; 6
Compliance with these standards means that the material does not allow flame propagation and the amount of heat generated by the surface during combustion is limited.
Usage Guidelines.
Machine Room Preparation
Sound, like water, will find the way out of the engine room until the last gap is law. Therefore, it is important to cover as large a surface of the engine room as possible with sound insulation material. Small slots and holes in, between and under partitions should be filled with liquid sealant or foam. If the "engine room" is an uninsulated part of a large room, it is recommended to build partitions or a "box" around the engine.
Installing Sheets
Before installing the sheets in the engine room, it is recommended to make a good "pattern" in place and cut the sheets according to it. Don't forget that cisterns amplify the sound. If there is a tank in the engine room, it is advisable to isolate it with the same sheets or build a "box" around it.
Hatches and vents
Hatches and vents can allow noise to pass through. It is necessary to isolate the points of connection of the hatch frame with deck. Vents are much more difficult to isolate as the engine needs air for operation and cooling. Creating a "maze" through which the air will pass, a kind of "silencer" may solve the problem.
