Vetus BP3008 - Series Parallel Switch 12/24 or 24/48 Volts

The Vetus BP3008 series parallel switch enables the connection of two 12V batteries for a 24V load or two 24V batteries for a 48V load. It facilitates the operation of bow and stern thrusters that require double the voltage of the onboard power supply, allowing them to be connected using this switch. When not in use, the batteries are connected in parallel for charging with the onboard voltage. To activate the thrusters, the switch connects the batteries in series to achieve the required voltage.

The design ensures easy and cost-effective installation while maintaining the thrusters' operational efficiency. It allows a maximum continuous current of 100A at 20% duty cycle to pass through the charging current contacts. However, it's advised not to use these batteries as starter batteries or connect a windlass to them. Additionally, for specific thruster models designed for different voltage systems, such as the 160 kgf and 220 kgf bow thrusters, a series/parallel switch enables operation from a 12V electrical system.
