The Jabsco 836-0003 impeller is a high-quality, flexible rubber component designed for robust performance. Constructed from durable Nitrile rubber, this impeller features 9 blades and measures 3-3/4 inches (95mm) in width and 2-1/2 inches (63.5mm) in thickness, with a 1 inch (25mm) brass spline drive shaft hub. Its versatility makes it suitable for bilge pumping and transferring water contaminated by substances such as oil or diesel.
For optimal performance, it is recommended to replace impellers annually or more frequently based on engine usage. Although properly installed impellers can last several years, maintaining a regular replacement schedule is crucial for reliable operation. Nitrile impellers are capable of handling a variety of liquids including oils, emulsions, diesel fuel, kerosene, and lubricants. If used with corrosive substances, flushing the pump with water after each use will extend the impeller's lifespan.
These impellers operate effectively within a temperature range of 50°F (10°C) to 180°F (82.2°C). Lower temperatures may impact priming and performance, while the softness of Nitrile impellers might reduce rated flow by about 10 percent.
