The Jabsco 4598-0003 impeller is designed for demanding marine applications. Crafted from durable Nitrile rubber, this flexible impeller features 8 blades and measures 2-9/16 inches (65mm) in width and 2 inches (51mm) in thickness. It includes a 5/8 inch (16mm) brass key drive shaft hub. Its robust construction makes it ideal for bilge pumping and handling heavily contaminated water, such as that mixed with oil or diesel.

To ensure optimal performance and longevity, it is recommended to replace impellers annually, or sooner depending on engine usage. Although a properly installed impeller can last several years, adhering to a preventive maintenance schedule is crucial. Nitrile impellers are versatile, managing a variety of substances including oils, emulsions, diesel fuel, lower-fraction hydrocarbons, kerosene, and machine-cutting oils. If pumping corrosive products, flushing the pump with water after use can extend its life.

The operating temperature range for Nitrile impellers is between 50°F (10°C) and 180°F (82.2°C). Note that lower temperatures may affect the impeller's priming ability and performance. Due to their softer composition, Nitrile impellers might provide a flow rate up to 10% below listed performance specifications. Keeping spare impellers on hand is advisable to manage emergencies.
