Seven models of hydraulic tilting units are presented, the standard set of which includes a hydraulic motor. Hydraulic motor is driven by hydraulic pump. If the hydraulic pump and hydraulic tank are already installed on the vessel, then in most cases they can be used for the thruster. Some manufacturers of marine engines, such as VETUS DEUTZ, can supply engines with PTO, a special connection (power take-off shaft), which greatly simplifies the installation of a hydraulic pump. In addition to the pump and hydraulic tank, VETUS can supply hydraulic control equipment as well as high pressure hoses with fittings. Installation kits are also supplied for all these fore control units, allowing them to be used as aft control units. Hydraulic CPs can be used with both plastic and steel and aluminum tunnels.

Thrusters (like other hydraulic equipment) can be driven by a special, additionally installed diesel engine (Powerpack), and not by a hydraulic pump installed on the main engine. In this case, the corresponding hydraulic pump is supplied as part of this engine. Installing a Powerpack engine on a vessel can significantly reduce generator power requirements due to hydraulic control some devices instead of electrical devices.
