If your boat's engine begins to falter and stall after being out of winter storage, the cause might be diesel plague. This system is designed to address fuel contamination and clean your fuel system to ensure a smooth and safe boating season.
- What is Diesel Plague?
Diesel plague is caused by various microorganisms, including bacteria, yeasts, and fungi, which enter the tank through water or air. These microorganisms themselves are not harmful, but the sludge they create during reproduction can cause serious problems. The bacteria thrive at the interface between water and diesel at the bottom of the tank, making water a critical factor for diesel plague development. - Diesel Plague Consequences:
• Incomplete combustion
• Clogged filters
• Clogged injectors
• Pitting corrosion in the fuel tank - How the System Works:
- Step 1: Kill the bacteria, fungi, and yeasts in the tank.
- Step 2: Connect the external filter unit, which will pump the water and dampness from the tank to the other side.
- Step 3: Activate the filter and open the sludge valve to start the cleaning process.
- Step 4: If a lot of sludge and water are present, it can be drained directly through the sampling valve.
- Step 5: When clean diesel begins to flow out of the tap, close the valve.
- Step 6: Let the filter run through 20-50 cycles, occasionally opening the water separator valve to remove excess water.
- Step 7: Your diesel and tank are now cleaned and ready for the boating season.
