If your boat's engine struggles to start after coming out of storage, the issue might be diesel plague, caused by bacteria and fungi in the fuel. This system is designed to address the common fuel contamination that leads to engine trouble.
- What is Diesel Plague?
Diesel plague is caused by a variety of microorganisms, including bacteria, fungi, and yeasts, which often enter the fuel tank via water or air. The bacteria themselves aren't dangerous, but the sludge they produce can cause significant damage. The sludge forms at the water-diesel interface at the bottom of the tank, requiring water to develop this condition. - Diesel Plague Consequences:
• Incomplete combustion
• Clogged filters
• Clogged injectors
• Pitting corrosion in the fuel tank - How the System Works:
- Step 1: Eliminate the bacteria, fungi, and yeasts.
- Step 2: Connect the external filter unit to pump the sludge and dampness from the tank.
- Step 3: Activate the filter and open the sludge valve to begin the cleaning process.
- Step 4: If there's a significant amount of sludge and water, it can be removed directly through the sampling valve.
- Step 5: Let the clean diesel flow out of the tap, then turn off the valve.
- Step 6: Run the filter through 20-50 cycles, periodically opening the water separator to remove any water.
- Step 7: Your fuel and tank will be free of contaminants and ready for use.
