- What is Diesel Plague?
Diesel plague is a combination of bacteria, yeasts, and fungi that often enter the tank through water or air. While the bacteria themselves aren't harmful, they produce a harmful sludge during reproduction, which can clog filters, injectors, and cause corrosion in the fuel tank. This typically forms at the interface of water and diesel in the tank. - Diesel Plague Consequences:
• Incomplete combustion
• Clogged filters
• Clogged injectors
• Pitting corrosion in the fuel tank - How the System Works:
- Step 1: Kill the bacteria, fungi, and yeasts.
- Step 2: Attach the external filter unit to the tank and pump the water and sludge to the other side.
- Step 3: Turn on the filter and open the sludge valve.
- Step 4: If there’s significant sludge and water, it can be drained through the sampling valve.
- Step 5: Diesel will flow from the tap—turn off the valve once the tank is cleared.
- Step 6: Run the filter for 20-50 cycles, occasionally opening the water separator to drain any water.
- Step 7: The diesel and tank are now cleaned and ready for the boating season.
