What is the purpose of the ceramic cam in Spinlock clutches?
The purpose of the ceramic cam in Spinlock clutches is to provide improved grip and durability while managing sailboat ropes under high load conditions. The ceramic cam reduces wear on both the clutch and the rope, ensuring smooth and reliable operation, particularly in racing and high-performance marine environments. This feature is especially valuable for frequently adjusted lines, offering long-term performance and minimal maintenance.
How does the Spinlock rope clutch handle ropes with diameters of 8-14mm?
The Spinlock rope clutch is designed to handle ropes with diameters of 8-14mm. These clutches provide a secure grip on the rope while allowing for easy release under load, which makes them ideal for high-performance yachts. The combination of the clutch handle and internal mechanics ensures smooth operation, even with frequently-adjusted lines, as specified on racing and production yachts worldwide.
How do Spinlock powerclutches differ from standard clutches in terms of performance?
Spinlock powerclutches differ from standard clutches by offering a higher level of performance, especially on high-performance yachts. They are specifically designed for frequently-adjusted lines, ensuring a secure grip even under heavy loads. The XTS and XCS series clutches, commonly specified on racing yachts, feature a ceramic cam for smoother rope handling, while the powerclutch design enhances ease of release and locking, making them ideal for competitive sailing.
